ROANOKE, Va. -

About 1,300 high school and college students are taking part in a big competition next weekend in Roanoke.

We're not talking about sports.

The students are showing off their skills in vocational areas like crime scene investigation, robotics, television production and more at the 50th annual Skills-USA Virginia Leadership Conference and Skill Competition.

There are dozens of competitions, in which students compete for scholarship money and the attention of potential employers.

The skill competition is happening Saturday, April 5 at the Roanoke Civic Center Special Events center from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
