Social media helps Roanoke pet progam
The cupboards were bare, so the RVSPCA turned to Facebook for help & the public responded
They asked, and you responded.
The Roanoke Valley SPCA was running low on food for its "Pets Eat Too" programs, so it went to Facebook asking for help.
More than 15-hundred pounds of food came in during a three-day period.
The program distributes pet food for home bound or economically disadvantaged people so they can keep their animals.
"What we were finding out is that a lot of these seniors before this program would give their pets, their food and then you run the risk of them not being well and being able to stay in their homes," explains Nina Zanella, Developing & Marketing Director.
The program has been running since 2007.
Since that time it has served more than one and half million pet meals.
