It was a day of anticipation for many family and friends awaiting their soldiers' return home. There were two arrivals by bus and by plane at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.
The first group arrived by bus. Kayla Booth could hardly stand still as she waited for her husband, Sergeant Adam Booth to arrive, she's been waiting for a year.
We've waited a long time for this, just excited,” said Kayla Booth.
Specialist Kaylin Tolbert couldn't wait to see her niece and nephew. Her to-do list includes baking cookies and taking part in a water balloon fight.
Sleep didn't come easy last night as anxious moms and dads waited. Sherry Hurts' daughter, Kelsey, arrived by plane.
“I can't even express how I feel. I mean its euphoria, that's all I can think. I'm just so excited and shaking all over,” said Sherry Hurt.
“I'm just excited. It's been a year since I left. I just excited to be home,” said Mack Moye.
Though this was a reunion for some, it was an introduction for others.
“It's nice to meet my daughter for the first time,” said Jesse Datley.
No matter how old their soldiers get, the love from their parents seems to be never ending.
“I'm so proud, I'm so proud of her. It amazing what she's done. I could cry right now. I'm just proud of her very proud of her,” said Bill Stickney.
