The American Red Cross is asking for your help. There is a shortage of blood and platelets in our area due to recent winter storms.
The severe winter weather last month forced the cancellation of more than 50 Red Cross blood drives. Both Virginia and North Carolina were impacted. Donors with types O, A negative and B negative blood are really needed.
“It means a lot to the community; to everyone. If I understand, for every pint of blood you give it saves three lives,” said sponsor Pat Horning.
Donors can find a blood drive near you and make an appointment at 1-800-Red-Cross.
