Tuesday evening's storms cause damage in Roanoke

Tuesday's storms that rolled through between six and seven o'clock knocked down trees around Roanoke County.

Our photojournalist found plenty of limbs on power lines around Plantation Road in the Hollins area.

Some people saw pea to dime size hail.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, more three-thousand people did not have power across Roanoke City and Roanoke, Botetourt, Pulaski Counties.

Harold Montrose was working on yard work when the storm blew in, and he felt every bit of it.

"And then this go Boom! This heavy, heavy storm and then trees falling and I say I hope nothing fall on me and then suddenly the rain stop," said Harold Montrose.

A tree also fell on the Bent Tree Apartments on Colonial Avenue.

No one was hurt.

Emergency crews are deciding whether the building is too damaged to allow people to live in it.
