A local country music station will no longer distribute bikes through the Bikes for Tykes program.
Super Country 99.9 WZBB-FM sent out a press release Wednesday regarding their decision to retire their Bikes for Tykes program. This comes after the organization operated for 15 years, distributing more than 17,000 bikes to Franklin, Henry, and Patrick Counties and Martinsville.
“While we are stepping back from Bikes for Tykes, we would like to step forward and help other charities, civic organizations and church groups with their Christmas giving campaigns,” the release reads. “Some of those who have worked on Bikes for Tykes in the past may want to continue to collect bikes for distribution by the Salvation Army, We Care, Christmas cheer, Goodwill and others.”
They will continue to promote other local organizations and give back to the community by promoting with public service announcements, interviews and updates.
