ROANOKE, Va. -

Tuesday night's downpour was just one more bump in the road for people trying to get back into their homes after the last round of strong storms.

Now a group of people living in the Meadowbrook neighborhood in Roanoke want help from the city.

The Kirby family is going through their home, throwing away just about everything in their home.

Tuesday night neighbors asked city council members if there's anything the city can do.

"It's not an overnight fix. It's going to take time but that's why it's important that we be there we have staff that drive by. More rain is going to come but we want to assure them their well being is first and foremost to us and we're going to stay with it," said Sherman Lee.

Roanoke Council member Sherman Lea says it's too early to say what the city can do to help.
