Traffic is still slow in the area as of 10:20 p.m.
One lane of Interstate 81 is still blocked near mile marker 127 in Montgomery County after a tractor trailer caught on fire.
Virginia State Police tell WDBJ7 that the driver of the truck smelled something in the cab around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The driver pulled off the road and discovered that there was a fire under the sleeper section of the cab.
The driver was not hurt, but the cab is a complete loss.
A tractor trailer fire has closed the north right lane of Interstate 81 near mile marker 127 in Montgomery County.
Traffic delays are currently four miles, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
