ROCKBRIDGE CO., Va. -

A Goshen man was killed Thursday night in an accident in Rockbridge County.

50-year-old Robert Lee Sydenstricker was killed after his car went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The accident happened around 7 p.m. on Route 780 (Happy Jack Trail), five miles north of Route 850.

Sydenstricker was not wearing a seat belt, according to Virginia State Police.

ID released in I-81 accident

Virginia State Police have also identified the driver who was killed Thursday on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 81 South at mile marker 177.

Investigators say Anthony Ricardo Payne, 52, died after his 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer went off the left side of the road and flipped.

Payne was from Jackson, Mississippi. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to state police.

Traffic is getting back to normal on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County.

Crews towed away a tractor trailer that crashed Thursday near Natural Bridge.

The out of state driver ran off the road on the southbound side just before 5:00 p.m.

Rockbridge Emergency services says it backed up traffic for eight miles at one point.

The driver died.

All lanes are back open now.

Rockbridge County deputies dealt with another deadly crash around 7:00 p.m.

Emergency services says a driver crashed into some trees on Happy Jack Trail in Goshen.

The driver died in that incident as well.
