Two roads in Grayson County may be closed for the next month.

Route 94 is closed from a slide over the weekend, and Route 665 is closed for a culvert replacement project.

The Virginia Department of Transportation described the side on Route 94 over the weekend as “extensive.” The slide has closed Route 94 between Route 634 (Grinders Mill Road) and Route 882 (Knuckles Curve Road).

It’s not clear when the road will re-open. Repairs will begin this week, but it may take a month or longer before repairs can be made because of the size and extent of the slide damage, according to VDOT.

Drivers can use Route 94 and 274 to avoid the closure. Local traffic traveling from Fries to Galax can use Routes 606 and 721 across the low-water bridge to Glendale Avenue.

According to VDOT, Route 665 will close today for culvert repair. It will remain closed for three to four weeks. Drivers are asked to pay close attention to detour signs in the area.
