BLACKSBURG,Va. -

Dozens of prospective veterinary students spent their day in Blacksburg.

They're here for an open house at the Virginia -Maryland Regional College of Veterinary at Virginia Tech. They learned a little about veterinary medicine and toured the Veterinary Teaching Hospital along with the rest of the 270-thounsand square foot complex. Workers say this open house helps them show how they serve the community.

“We have a lot of tours, different demonstrations, a lot of different lectures, basically showing what the vet school has to offer. It's a really great way to get a lot of the students involved and showcase what we do,” said student,” said student Betsy Schroeder.

Students were also on hand to help surgically repair stuffed animals brought in by kids.
