The Virginia Museum of Transportation celebrated dirt, power and speed racing on Saturday.

Visitors got to meet some racing legends and take a closer look at early NASCAR race cars.

They learned about the origins of the sport, even learning how moonshine inspired the sport.

A NASCAR simulator wowed the crowd and some of racing's veterans were on hand to greet guests.

Over 20 drivers helped make the event a success.

The event was to honor Curtis Turner, a Southwest Virginia native and a longtime NASCAR veteran.

His daughter, says his career and others' helped to shape what racing is today
