DUBLIN, Va. -

The Volvo production plant in Dublin will hire around 200 additional employees to meet increased demand, the company announced Tuesday.

The production increase will happen in the second quarter. Currently the New River Valley plant employs around 2,350 people.

“We’re very pleased by the opportunity to increase production, and in turn, help the community by expanding our workforce,” Lars Blomberg, vice president and NRV general manager, wrote in a statement.

The company says that through February, Volvo truck deliveries in North America were up 80 percent compared with the same period last year.
