ROANOKE, Va. -

Before Interstate 81 was built, it was the place to be in Roanoke.

A lot's changed on Williamson Road, but there's a feeling from business owners that things are getting better.

The Williamson Road Area Business Association is holding its first ever 'restaurant week' starting tonight.

The group has tried to market the area more by putting up signs and showing that there are plenty of reasons to come down.

"We're always looking to do something to promote the area. It's our job to try and get the people there and that's what we try and do. Williamson Road is a great place. There are a lot of assets there for people to try and take advantage of," said Wendy Jones who heads the business association.

The association has over 150 member businesses in Roanoke City and Roanoke County.
