A window film manufacturer in Henry County has partnered with local agencies to create a 28-credit certificate program.

Eastman, Patrick Henry Community College, Commonwealth Laminating and Coating, Inc.; New College Institute and the Economic Development Corporation have started an advanced film manufacturing program.

The program is 28 credits and is open for anyone to enroll. Students will learn industrial safety and hygiene skills, hands-on training with window film equipment and math and problem-solving skills.

Eastman officials say many of its employees are close to retiring. There's a demand for people with those skills. The hope is that those going through the program will land jobs at Eastman.

Most classes will happen at PHCC, but some of the more advanced courses will be located at NCI and Eastman.

Eastman also has a scholarship in place to help some students through the program.

If you'd like more information about the program, there will be an information session Monday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. at in the Patrick Henry Community College Frith Building in Martinsville.

PHCC is located at 645 Patriots Avenue.
