An increase in Internet pedophiles is prompting the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center in Franklin County to hold a public workshop to crack down on the issue.
The workshop will describe sex offenders who use the Internet for sexual exploitation of children.
Parents can learn how to oversee children's use on the computer along with strategies to ensure safety.
“Children as young as two years old are able to use touch screen tablets and iPhones and all kinds of technology. And it really easy for predators to present themselves as something other than what they really are,” said Child Forensics Interview Specialist Emma Beneke.
The workshop is free and open to the public on Wednesday at 6:30, at Franklin County High.
