Bomb threat found inside Jefferson Forest High School, students evacuated
A bomb threat found inside of Jefferson Forest High School caused the school to be evacuated Thursday morning.
Students were eventually dismissed early for the day, according to a Bedford County Schools spokesperson. The threat was written on the wall of the boys bathroom.
The threat was found around 11 a.m. inside the school. Students and faculty were immediately evacuated to the football field. They stayed there for nearly two hours until the decision was made to move everyone across the street to Forest Elementary School.
Students were dismissed for the day around 1:30 p.m. Students at Forest Elementary School were not affected.
The all-clear was given by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office around 4 p.m. Once the all-clear was given, all after-school activities were allowed to be held at Jefferson Forest, but the decision was left up to individual coaches.
