The Wytheville Police Department has released more information about a reported shooting Monday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m. Monday the police department received a  9-1-1 call from a home on Rose Hill road. The nature of the call indicated that someone had been shot.

When officers and Wythe County deputies responded, four people were inside the home. They told investigators that they were there when a shooting happened. It wasn’t clear if there were others still in the home.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home until a tactical team entered the home. No additional people were found inside of the home, but there was evidence that a shooting happened.

A search warrant has been secured for the home. Charges are pending.


The police chief in Wytheville says there was no shooting.

He said the incident was a "misunderstanding."
