Dozens of kids took to the football field in Roanoke to learn the basics of the sport.
The kids spent their day at William Fleming High School.

This is part of the Upward Flag Football program organized by the First Baptist Church. Players are made up of all faiths and are from different counties.

100 kids are split up into 12 groups, ranging from boys and girls from first to eighth grades.

They really love it because again we teach fundamentals of football. It's very competitive but its fundamental and it's an opportunity for them to have fun, said program manager, Anna Grubb.

The group will continue play every Saturday until October 26th.
