Kelly Zuber has been appointed news director for WDBJ7. Zuber is a 31-year employee who has served as a reporter, photojournalist and assignment editor. She has also served as director of public affairs and director of promotion and marketing.

She comes to the news director job from her assignment of the last six years, director of digital services, during which time she has guided the phenomenal growth of and the company's mobile sites and apps.

"Kelly is a hard-nosed journalist and a futurist, a really good combination for someone who has to manage all of the content across all of the platforms that people use now to receive information and entertainment," observed Jeffrey Marks, president and general manager of WDBJ7.

Zuber succeeds Dan Dennison, whose new role with WDBJ7 will be feature reporter. Over the last two years, Dennison has produced a series of "Trail Stories," covering the region's hiking and biking venues.

Dennison's beat will include stories of people throughout southwest Virginia. He will be creating the model for the ultimate multimedia journalist, with all of the tools to cover stories, assemble them and transmit them from anywhere to WDBJ7's broadcast and mobile platforms.

Zuber said, "Working with the region's most experienced and largest electronic news team is a great opportunity. There's a reason Your Hometown News Leader has been number one for decades."
