AMHERST COUNTY, Va.—
Effective Tuesday December 4, 2012, north and southbound Route 29 traffic in Amherst County will use the southbound lanes while the northbound bridge over the Buffalo River is replaced.
Workers have been widening pavement and constructing crossovers for the detour which will be in place until the project is completed in April 2014. Signs and other traffic control measures will be used to direct drivers.
The current northbound bridge was built in 1931.
