Thursday's bad weather didn't stop a rally at a school in Roanoke County.

Hundreds of students at Glenvar High School wore purple in honor of Michael Sandridge. He's a football player at Glenvar High and is battling cancer.

Recently, his condition worsened and that's why students wanted to get together to urge Michael to fight.

"We don't know how much time he has but our student body wanted to show their support and their love toward Michael and his family," said Kevin Clifford, a Glenvar student.

Right now Michael is in the hospital and not able to attend school. Recently the school honored him by planting a tree in his name at the football field.

There's also a Facebook page called "Fight, Michael Fight". It has more than 1,600 'likes' and many people have left encouraging messages for Michael and his family.
