Monster Jam takes over Roanoke Civic Center this weekend

The action doesn't get much bigger or louder at the Roanoke Civic Center.

Monster Jam returns this weekend for three shows.  The event features Advance Auto Part’s "Grinder" and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the world famous "Gravedigger."

The trucks are quiet and still right now, but they will be cranked up this evening.

"It's a two hour escape from reality.  No matter what's going on at home or at work you come here you forget about it.  It's a lot of fun," said Frank Krmel, driver of the monster truck "Grinder."  "What you see on TV you see here times 10.  The trucks are so big and so loud.  You'll see three contests.  The wheelie competition, the side by side racing, and freestyle.  Between the three, the two hours will go by like that and you'll want to come back the next day for sure."
