It may be winter, but it's been pretty warm out there. Perfect weather to put on those running shoes.
Children are invited to take part in the YMCA of the Roanoke Valley's 3rd Annual YMCA Kids Marathon. Registration is now open for the event, which is designed to get the whole family living a healthier lifestyle.
The run is open for Kindergartners through fifth graders.
While the finale of the run happens Saturday, April 21, kids are expected to complete 25.2 miles of the marathon before that on their own. They can log miles not just by running, but by doing fun activities like jumping rope, rollerblading and dancing.
The entry fee is $20.00 if your child signs up before February 29. After that date, the cost is $25.00.
Runners will receive a race shirt, race number bib, finisher’s medal and a goodie bag.
Pedometers and tracking forms may be picked up at the Kirk Family YMCA, the Gainsboro Family YMCA or the Salem Family YMCA
