Letters to the editor: Politics on readers' minds
Letters to the editor (September 14, 2012)
The nation's economy is in shambles. Michigan's economy is worse, far worse.
Senator Stabenow has supported ObamaCare, the $1 trillion stimulus, and the countless regulations that have proven to be ineffective and that have also fueled uncertainty in the minds of our small business owners.
Yet with all that is at stake in this election, she has announced that she rejects Pete Hoekstra's request to engage in six statewide televised debates at mutually acceptable times and locations. Instead, she wants only to participate in two debates, and not statewide, televised debates.
How fitting it is that one of our state's own Motown artists performed a rather prescient song pertinent to Senator Stabenow. Ms. Stabenow's reluctance to debate reminds me of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas "Nowhere to run to, baby, Nowhere to hide."

Who is Obama?
Before I vote ... I want to know more about the person I am voting for.
There is substantial amount of documented information about Mitt Romney ... from birth, his young life, his education, his business career, CEO of the 2002 Winter Olympics, governor of Massachusetts. Mitt Romney is one of the wealthiest self-made men in our country and has given back to its citizens in terms of money, service and time more than most men.
Barack Obama is someone we don't know. We know so little about the facts of his life. We do know that he grew up in a strange family. He also grew up with hateful men like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright (who chanted 'god damn America'), Frank Marshall Davis (a member of the Communist party), and Bill Ayers. Bill Ayers was one of the founders of the Weather Underground, a radical group responsible for 30 bombings.
Which man would you be proud to have in your family circle? It should not matter whether you are Democrat, Republican, or Independent ... which man do you really want as President of the United States?

No better than beasts?
Recently on National Geographic, a portion was devoted to the grizzly bear. It was explained how the adult male will kill the young to maintain area domination. Brutal, beastly behavior centered on their own arrogance. Barbaric deeds which only can be explained as selfish and of no benefit to the population. While pondering this behavior, I came across a letter to the editor about Gary McDowell, Aug. 24, 2012, and his lack of support for the human version of this grizzly selfishness.
Of course I refer to children being erased from existence in the name of choice. So, I want to know why the cry didn't go out to erase the criminal behind the rape or incest.
Maybe I didn't read into it enough. Maybe your desire is for capital punishment for the beasts that create this trouble.
Why kill the baby Mrs. Saltonstall? Or is it the child's fault? Or in the case of the unwanted pregnancy, maybe make a better choice with your partner before you create a life. Now that would really be a good choice, don't you think? It's just simple math!
I think Mr. McDowell may be a little more of a self-thinker with good judgment, than all those robotic tail between their legs politicians who have dragged us all down a slope of trouble. They do not vote right and wrong, they vote party. Those are the ones who need to go sister!
