The Office of the Sheriff of Franklin County has received a number of complaints from business
owners in reference to a recent phone scam.

The caller claims to be an advertising agent supporting the Franklin County 9-1-1 Communications Center.

In exchange for credit card numbers, the caller has advised businesses that they will print calendars or refrigerator magnets for the company, and proceeds will benefit the Franklin County 9-1-1 Communications Center.

Neither the Office of the Sheriff nor the Franklin County 9-1-1 Communications Center conducts
phone solicitations for fund raising efforts.

If you or your business receives a phone call in reference to a phone solicitation from the Franklin County 9-1-1 Center, please do not give out any credit card or bank account information and contact Capt. Harry Clingenpeel at the Office of the Sheriff, 540-483-
6616.
