Students at Rocky Mount Elementary School took time to thank our military veterans in a special way.
A Veterans Day program included music, a color guard and recognition for veterans who were on-hand. They were invited by students at the school who are related to them. The kids even gave them a few gifts.
Timmy Chitwood is a retired marine. “I think it's wonderful I think it's a good chance for the kids to see what our country is--the life that they get and what they receive is due to generations of people fighting for our freedom,” he said.
More than 360 students took part in today's program. The veterans encouraged the students to stay in school and work hard to make great grades.
