Residents of Washington D.C. didn't feel a 5.8 magnitude earthquake coming Aug. 23, but some residents of the National Zoo did.

Red-ruffed lemurs
Red-ruffed lemurs sounded an alarm call about 15 minutes before the quake and then again just after it occurred.
