As deputies continue to investigate the death of an infant in Pittsylvania County, neighbors say they saw this tragedy coming.

A spokesperson for Miller Funeral Home says 7-month-old Tykwon King died Sunday at a home on Ramsey Road, just off Route 40 in Gretna.

Deputies have arrested 21-year-old Nikko Lemar King in connection with the baby's death.  He's charged with second degree murder and a related weapons charge.

Neighbors say King was living with and dating the baby's mother, Bionica.

Shirley Ward is landlord over the community where the shooting took place.  She says the Nikko and Bionica were constantly fighting and she advised Nikko to move out before things turned violent.

"I (told Nikko) this is an every week thing.  All during the week, you're fighting.  Sometimes on the weekend you're fighting," said Ward.

She asked Nikko to pack his things and leave.

"I said just get your clothes and go to your Dad's," said Ward.  "If you don't, it's going to be trouble."

Now that trouble has happened, Ward says she's disapointed.

"I'm sorry it happened," said Ward.  "I'm sorry for Tykwon.  He had no life, but he is in a better place."

Miller Funeral Home in is handling Tykwon's funeral.

A date for those services won't be set until the baby's body is returned from the medical examiner's office in Roanoke, where they're currently performing an autopsy.
