Jewel Knight is listed in serious condition at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Annie Simmons is listed in good condition at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

A car collided with a dump truck head-on in Patrick County this morning, sending two women to the hospital. Virginia State Police said 82 year old Annie Simmons of Stuart had just pulled out of a parking lot shortly after eight a.m. onto Route 58 when the accident happened.
Simmons car had crossed the westbound lanes and was already in the eastbound lanes when a dump truck driver, who was heading West, hit the brakes, according to State Police Sergeant Bob Carpentieri. The truck, which was carrying 20 tons of gravel, skid out of control and into the eastbound lanes hitting the car head- on, according to Carpentieri.
The two women in the car, Simmons and a passenger, 86 year old Jewel Knight of Stuart, were both trapped in the vehicle. Both were flown to the hospital. Simmons was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where as of 3:15 pm she is in good condition. Knight was flown to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The dump truck driver, 51 year old Winnond Shrewsberry of Patrick Spring, Virginia, was not hurt. At this point, no charges have been filed. State Police Sergeant Bob Carpentieri said the investigation is continuing.
