Roanoke Technical Education Center Robotics is an extracurricular robotics program dedicated to inspiring and developing young engineers. The ROTEC team is hosting a robotics competition at Patrick Henry High School Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the school's cafeteria. The event is free to the public.
The projects and the competition promotes teamwork, leadership and problem solving among the groups. Team "Techtonics" represents Roanoke City Schools in the competiton. The group is hoping to qualify for the National VEX meet in April.
Team leader, Ray Cotter, and two team members Travis Boley and Zach Wiseman were guests on News 7 Mornin'.
In the video clip, the group demonstrates its robot, talks about the learning opportunities robotics provides, and the need for team sponsorship.
