Winter storms in southern states are causing problems in the Roanoke area. 

On Monday, several flights at Roanoke Regional Airport because of snow in Charlotte and Atlanta. Tuesday doesn't look much better. At least three morning flights have been canceled.

A different story around here.

In Martinsville, the city had a few flurries but nothing stuck to the ground.

VDOT pretreated highways and major roads with brine. Road crews were out overnight monitoring the roads. A spokesperson says they restocked the salt supply which is now at 60%

With freezing temperatures, people here are bundled up head to toe.

"Well, it's pretty cold," says Sherard Waller who walked 10 minutes to a Martinsville store, "You see I'm wrapped up and got my hat on so. Very chilly and there were some snowflakes earlier but they went away."
