Police say the 911 system is back online and is working again.

The Blacksburg Police Department's emergency 911 system shut down at approximately 5:15 pm Thursday.
The system failure is apparently a county-wide problem.
Blacksburg Police want to advise Blacksburg residents that if they need to contact the police
department for emergency and non-emergency situations they can call (540) 961-1169. This is a working administrative phone line within the police facility, and it will be monitored constantly until the 911 system is restored.
Once the 911 system is restored, a follow-up media release will be issued.
