It's not up for debate, a successful elementary school program is heading to some Roanoke middle schools.
Earlier this year, we told you about the "Westside Debaters" - an elementary school debate team that was invited to Wiley College in Texas.
Wiley College, a historically black school, was featured in the Denzel Washington movie, "The Great Debaters."
Now, the popular program has made its way to some Roanoke middle schools.
This year, Lucy Addison and Breckinridge will both have teams.
"At Westside we don't feel like our job is done when they leave our doors. They're still our Eagles, they're still our babies and whatever we can do in the role of advising or helping middle schools to spark debate programs and to select students and help them get uniforms, whatever we can do on our end, that's what we want to do," explains Westside Debate Coach Jeff May.
Tough times have the debaters once again raising money for uniforms.
If you want to see what to see the team in action, it's performing Thursday at 7:15 p.m. at the Grandin Theater.
