A car accident on Route 460 West in Botetourt County has school officials hoping people take notice of school bus safety.

A truck carrying lumber lost control Wednesday when it tried to avoid a stopped school bus. Click here to read Wednesday's story about the accident, and click here to see photos.

In the past two years, four other trucks have lost control when approaching stopped school buses in Botetourt County.

Morris Gill with Botetourt County Schools says he knows why.

“When they raised the speed limit two years ago we had an increase in problems,” said Gill, who is the Botetourt County Transportation Supervisor.  “It was rare that we had these problems but now it occurs almost daily.”

One student from Colonial Elementary School was still on the bus Wedsday at the time of the accident.
