Amazing Race Recap: Your Tan is Totally Cool

Teams leave the last paradise on earth, Bali, to Hanoi, Vietnam. Dave and Connor decide to quit the race and inform the other top 3 teams, the newlyweds and the Asians. Pam and Winnie decide to keep this fact a secret to the other teams so they won’t try as hard during this leg.

When the teams left the Pit Stop, the clue warned of an upcoming U-turn. The Asians and Max and Katie want to U-turn the trio consisting of Mona/Beth, Joey/Meghan, and John/Jessica. The main target is TeamCali. Team YouTube is worried that they might get U-turned so they solidified their alliance with the roller Derby Moms because they speculate John and Jessica got the axe.

The Top 3 teams leave Denpasar international airport and arrive in the evening around 7pm. The Rap Cohn Nhon theatre in the center of the square does not open until 9am. The two teams travel to the Hotel Del Artistes and wait for the other teams.  These two teams actually became friends. Remember how hard of a task this would be for Katie? Guess she is not the villain of the season like we all predicted. Dave and Connor at this point traveled to Phil at the Pit Stop and decided to quit.

The rest of the teams catch up and they all realize John and Jessica got eliminated with an Express Pass in their pockets. Max is on a roll; he cracks up and mocks the team. Well, Joey is not having this nonsense be spoken about his friend / alliance mate. But, he has to bite his tongue because he doesn’t want to be the target in the U-turn. Unfortunately for the other two teams, the rest have banded together with a plan to U-turn them.

The door opens at 9am and

ROADBLOCK!

One teammate has to watch a Vietnam patriot song and memorize a quote and match it with a political poster. Wynona chose not to do this. Note: she has not done a roadblock and Roadblocks are to be done evenly between teams.

“Socialism is growing more with time”

This is a phrase the ensemble cast sang in their native language to the teams. The phrase the roadblockers need to match is (in English) “glory to our young generation.”

They have 5 minutes to find the correct political poster or they have to watch the performance again. Pam matches the phrase correctly in her first try and they are now leading the pack. They advance to Cong Ben Than Ghan to perform a bamboo dance. The teams literally have to jump across bamboo sticks while holding hands. Granted, it took Chuck and Wynona forever to figure out that they need to HOLD HANDS so they went from a 3rd place to scraping at the end.
