Another ATM has been stolen from an area business.
Thieves stole the ATM out of the Country Express store in Nathalie early Wednesday morning. It’s the second ATM theft in Halifax County in as many months. Last month the ATM was taken from Gene’s Orange Market on Route 58.
Earlier this month, an ATM was taken from a bank in Keysville. That’s in Charlotte County.
Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark says investigators do believe all three thefts are related. Clark says deputies have spoken to three people possibly connected to the case.
In Wednesday’s robbery, a manager at Country Express says chains were tied to the front doors, which were then pulled open with a truck. Once inside the store, the chains were wrapped around the ATM, which was then dragged outside of the store with the truck.
Prior to the robbery, power was cut off in the area so there is no surveillance video. Country Express is on Route 501 in Nathalie.
