County leaders in Appomattox are pushing the National Park Service to restore one of the area's most important tourist attractions.
The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution Wednesday, urging the National Park Service to fund major renovations and repairs for the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park.
A recent study shows the park needs extra maintenance and staffing to sustain the property's aging structures.
County supervisors hope repairs can be done in time to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War in 2015.
