ROANOKE CO., Va.
At 419 West in Roanoke County, there wasn't much being said about the impending dinner crowd.
Nothing being said, because no one knew what to say.
The chefs prepared as normal, the waitstaff set the tables, nothing out of the ordinary; just another Friday.
Except this Friday brought some of the white stuff.
419 lost a night of business when they had to close last Thursday because of that snow storm: the employees couldn't get to work.
Despite preparing for a normal day around 11, we put in a call at 3:30 saying the lunch crowd was slow.
Managers at 419 say they usually thrive on their group parties in a special lounge they have in the back of the restaurant. Tonight, the restaurant had two reservations for a combined 50 people. As of 3:30, both those parties were still happening.
Managers say losing those parties are "not good". Generally, the restaurant says it has a strong bar business over the weekend and thinks tonight will be a normal Friday, especially since the snow will taper off by mid to late afternoon.
