It's the good news the community has been waiting for. On Tuesday, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office announced an arrest in the robbery and attack of a Moneta store owner.
Jason Andrew Shell, 38, of Roanoke is charged with possession of a firearm, assault and robbery. Shell is currently in jail in Roanoke County on an unrelated charge.
Sheriff Mike Brown says Shell has a long violent criminal history. He would not elaborate on what led police to Shell or their evidence against him.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Bob Terry was closing his store, Terry's Country Corner, on Dickerson Mil Road on October 1 when he was beaten and robbed. Terry suffered severe injuries to his face and head.
Terry came to the news conference on Tuesday with his family. He has bruises on his face, difficulty talking and uses a cane to walk. After the announcement, Terry told NEWS 7 he was grateful to investigators.
"It's a relief," said Terry, "They've done it very quickly and very efficiently."
Terry does plan to return to his store. He expects to be back at work after the New Year.
