ROANOKE, Va.—
Hundreds of young people submitted drawings. The ten best are now on display, and organizers of an area art contest are counting on you to pick a winner. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia partnered with U.S. Cellular for the Black History Month Art Contest. Over the past five years, more than 1500 club members have entered the competition. This year's finalists are now on display at U.S. Cellular stores in Roanoke, Salem and Christiansburg.
"The art is beautiful," said U.S. Cellular Field Marketing Manager Rachel Bowman. "It just gets better and better every year. And as you can see, there is a wide array of people that our youth finds in African American history to be very influential."
The drawings are on display through February 28th, and visitors to U.S. Cellular stores can vote for their favorites. The top three will win prizes, with the winner taking home a $500 gift card.
