There's a two week bus tour traveling all around the country and its mission is to improve education all across America.
Friday, September 21st, that bus stopped in Roanoke.
The Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, made a stop at Virginia Western Community College.
The focus is to see the challenges people are facing in education.
Duncan says adults, veterans, skilled immigrants and those who are incarcerated need better resources and access to education.
No matter what the age, Duncan says secondary education is needed to compete in today's economy. "These are really tough economic times but I think its so important that folks continue to focus on the skills that are needed for the jobs, not just of today but of the future: The stem areas, science technology, engineering, math is a huge importance, health care and advance manufacturing," explained Duncan.
So far, Duncan has visited 47 different states.
