A Roanoke man is charged after police say he crashed his car into a utility pole Tuesday afternoon.
Officers say the crash happened in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue, at about 2:45pm Tuesday. Roanoke police say Carlton Thomas lost control of his vehicle and struck the utility pole. The pole was knocked down as a result of the crash.
Officers say all eastbound lanes of Orange Avenue were closed between 13th and 20th Streets as a result. The closures lasted about two hours.
Roanoke police say Thomas wasn't hurt. He has been charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

A car crash is causing traffic backups in Roanoke Tuesday afternoon.
The Roanoke City Police Department says the crash happened in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue at about 2:45pm Tuesday.
It's unclear how many vehicles were involved, or whether anyone was hurt.
Some WDBJ7 viewers tell us they've been stuck in traffic for more than a half hour.
