A punishment has been handed down to a Bedford man who tried to kill his brother and nephew.
Judge Jim Updike has sentenced Dennis Caldwell to 33 years in prison, with 11 years suspended. Caldwell was found guilty in August on charges of aggravated malicious wounding and misuing a firearm.
Prosecutors say Caldwell shot his brother, Glen, and his nephew, Adam. He then held deputies in a standoff for several hours, and tried to kill himself by setting his own house on fire.
