People from near and far buy products from Cannaday’s Sav-A-Bit in Boones Mill. They sell T-shirts and hats which feature images related to the area’s moonshine history. Many people who buy the products range from celebrities to game show contestants who’ve worn their t-shirts shows like “The Price is Right”.

“Lawless” is a movie that will shine a bright spotlight on Franklin County, what some people call the moonshine capital of the world. However, some aren't excited about the movie because they say the gangster film, which takes place in Franklin County during prohibition,  is full of inaccuracies.

The move is based on the novel “The Wettest County in the World”, which was written by Matt Bondurant. He’s a grandson of one of the main characters in the film. But many are saying what we will see on the big screen won't depict Franklin County in an accurate way.

We spoke with Roddy Moore who’s with the Blue Ridge Institute at Ferrum College “It's a movie. It's not fact. There's probably a small thread --a SMALL thread of truth running through it. The rest of it is Hollywood.
