Virginia State Police have identified the man killed Thursday night in an accident on Route 460 in Botetourt County.

Stephen Morris of Buchanan died in the wreck. He was 30.

Investigators say around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Morris was driving the wrong way on Route 460 East near Laymantown Road. Morris’ 1993 Ford Explorer crashed into a 2009 GMC Sierra pick-up truck.

He was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

1:25 a.m.: State police say a man is dead in a car crash along Route 460 in Botetourt County.

WDBJ7's photojournalist on the scene says a small SUV is sitting in the median near Laymantown Road around 11:35 Thursday night.

The SUV has heavy damage.

State police say the driver of the SUV was driving on the wrong side of the road heading toward Roanoke.

A Botetourt County deputy was following him to warn him but the SUV didn't stop.

The SUV hit a truck head-on.

The driver of the SUV died in the crash.

The driver of the truck was injured and taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
