Brush fire in Roanoke County burns 5 acres

A brush fire in Roanoke County has burned five acres of land since Friday afternoon. Crews got the call around 3:30 p.m. about smoke in the area of Sugar Camp Creek Road. The fire was contained at about five acres.

Crews worked all night to keep the fire within the containment lines and put out the fire.

The Department of Forestry will have crews on scene today as well.

Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews responded to Sugar Camp Creek Road yesterday at about 3:30 p.m. for a report of smoke in the area.  When the first firefighters arrived they found a fast moving brush fire that appeared to have started in a power line right of way.  The fire was contained at about five acres. Crews worked all night to keep the fire within the containment lines and put out the fire.  The Department of Forestry will have crews on scene all day today.
