BEDFORD, Va.—
A brush fire near the Peaks of Otter in Bedford County is contained. Firefighters hope Friday's showers will help douse any hot spots.
The fire was spotted Friday afternoon near Flat Top Mountain. Crews from Bedford County and the Virginia Department of Forestry worked overnight to contain it. The fire burned about four acres.
A spokesman for the Department of Forestry says expected rainfall should take care of any hot spots. Crews will monitor the site because falling leaves can reignite smoldering fires.
