A sagging budget is forcing some Lynchburg library-goers to adjust their schedules.
The city is scaling back its operating hours for the downtown library. The facility at city hall serves as a branch for the main library.
Starting February 21st, the library's weekly hours will drop from 40 to 23. The doors will close at 1:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the library will stay closed all day on Fridays.
Downtown residents say the reduced hours will be inconvenient.
"For people who don't have Internet access at home, it's very important to be able to use your public library. To fill out job applications, and stay connected with other people," said library patron, Bethany Worley.
To make up for cut in services downtown, the city is planning to add more public computers at the main library on Memorial Avenue.
