CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va.—
Sheriff's deputies in Campbell County are still looking for a man who assaulted a girl as she left for school Tuesday morning.
The assault happened outside the girl's home in the 10000 block of Wards Road, between Colonial Highway and Calohan Road, around 7:45 a.m. Major L. T. Guthrie says the man was wearing a mask and dark clothing. The girl was able to escape and the man ran off.
Deputies used a tracking dog and state police helicopter to search for the suspect. As of 1:00 he had not been found. Guthrie said there have been no other reports of a suspicious person in that area.
The girl, who's name has not been released, was taken to a hospital. She is expected to be ok.
